Pearson had a great game - 12 points / 9 rebounds in 25 min, was 6-6 shooting.

My assessment after 4 games;
1. Boogie a true offensive talent but no passion on D and way to many turnovers. 2. Luke has lost all shooting confidence and is reluctant to shoot even on open looks. He has gone backwards offensively; last year he was even going more off the dribble. His D is okay. 3. Pearson has been solid scorer, rebounder and probably based on performance should be starting. 4. Sellers is maybe the brightest light and is beginning to find his rhythm. Most athletic and maybe best on ball defender 5. Sparks has been solid but I think he’s pressing a bit through the double teams. To many turnovers. 6. Windham definitely an outside threat and can make shots! Defense could be better. 7. Jihad has been okay and shows sparks! 8. Jacobs has to be on the floor. May be our most consistent performer so far. 9. The rest…I’ve seen some spark from Cleary and he may begin to take playing time from Luke.

I agree with the battle of wills between Lewis and Coleman and I think Lewis will win. I think unless Coleman gets on board quickly that Jacobs is going to be key. I think Jacobs gets it.
We certainly have a lot of work to do, but I did feel like we are improved. Last year if the opponent was hitting threes like that we would have just started jacking up deep balls and that’s how you lose a game like that. This game was tough but with our lead we could afford to trade 3’s for 2’s and did a good job not going full tilt. I think that’s Lewis’ talk about winning vs scoring.

Hell may hath frozen over, because we agree almost to a point. Just kidding, we probably don't really disagree all that much. You're just more of an optimist/ cheerleader than I am. Not bad, just different lenses. I REALLY like Sellers. IMO he will be our best and most complete player by season's end. Boogie drives me nuts. I can't stand watching him play. Sparks seems out of sorts. Footwork is off, pressing on FT's, flat-footed, and a step slow. Doesn't seem as hungry or physically-ready as last year. Bumb is a great kid, but not a D1 talent. I agree on Jacobs. He's our most productive offensive player in teams of efficiency - ballhandling, scoring, shooting, passing, running the team. He and Sellers are easily my two favorite players on the team.

Lewis is clearly frustrated in the post-game interview. Good. He should be. Having said that, I do appreciate the fact that he's not willing to sacrifice long-term behavior changes for short term success. He still has a ton of work to do. We are horrible defensively, need to take care of the ball a lot better, and must play more as a team.

IUSB has made some good cuts to the basket, got some favorable match ups. Surprisingly good near the basket. Agreed. And Washington (0) repetitively broke us down off the dribble and wreaked havoc. That dude is quick! Sellers was the only one who did a good job of keeping himself between him and the basket.

Coleman and Bumbalough are both head cases. Neither responds well to criticism and they've been coddled and Lewis coaches HARD. No mamby pamby bullshit allowed. I think Luke was over recruited and is not a D1 player. Coleman is most definitely a player but he's so immature and lazy on D. If he doesn't get his crap together we are gonna struggle to finish over .500. Exactly. I suspect there will be some guys who decide this is not for them. That’s ok. The guys who want to learn and win and be champions will stay and in the future chose the program for that. The guys who didn’t get boo said to them are struggling with getting challenged. We’ll see who responds. Coleman could be a star but only wants to play offense and try to be flashy. He just needs to make winning plays on offense and freaking guard someone. Doesn’t have to try to be a highlight reel.

The 14 rebounds and 18 points for Sellers is impressive. Sure would like to see him develop into bigger role. Oh, he will. No worries there aside from the injury flaring up again. The dude is a stud.

Lewis is clearly frustrated in the post-game interview. Criticized Sparks Sellers for individual defense on post game TV interview... it's an old story, you can always improve on D.

Only limited by size, strength inside, and depth. If they play like this I'm an IUSB fan!

We were about a second behind on close outs and gave up so many lay ups. Bumb does not look for and now passes out of decent looks

Just off on help and recover. Very close on that. Better than last year.
That team had 4 guys who could drive to the basket. The hot 3pfg% made them very effective. We had to spread out to cover everybody and then the drive opened up.
Had to do better stopping the drive 1 on 1.
Help defense is vulnerable to a spread offense with that dual threat.

Doesn’t have to try to be a highlight reel. This would be good because we need some more scholarship capital for next season. After signing the Valpo PF, we only have 1 scholarship left if everyone stays. We have multiple needs for next season; PG who can handle the ball to replace Jacobs and more front court depth. Would be nice if 2 to 3 of the right guys decide it's not for them.
