To me, Coleman is just wildly inconsistent with his effort, both on defense and offense. I never saw anyone throw a lazier pass (of course, that was the standard a lot under Whitford). Then one second he's waving an uninterested hand in the area of a ball handler; the next he's diving for a loose ball.
Coleman playing for 15 minutes and giving all-out effort on both ends of the court during that time would be better than playing him 25 minutes of 50% effort.

Exactly. I suspect there will be some guys who decide this is not for them. That’s ok. The guys who want to learn and win and be champions will stay and in the future chose the program for that. The guys who didn’t get boo said to them are struggling with getting challenged. We’ll see who responds. Coleman could be a star but only wants to play offense and try to be flashy. He just needs to make winning plays on offense and freaking guard someone. Doesn’t have to try to be a highlight reel. This would be good because we need some more scholarship capital for next season. After signing the Valpo PF, we only have 1 scholarship left if everyone stays. We have multiple needs for next season; PG who can handle the ball to replace Jacobs and more front court depth. Would be nice if 2 to 3 of the right guys decide it's not for them. In today's age, it's almost guaranteed that 1-3 players will transfer out. Can't stop recruiting even if think all the spots are filled.

Coleman is most definitely a player but he's so immature and lazy on D. Coleman could be a star but only wants to play offense and try to be flashy. He just needs to make winning plays on offense and freaking guard someone. Doesn’t have to try to be a highlight reel. The issue I see is he loses focus too much, moreso than the flashy thing. Just a second, just a momentary lapse, lazy passes, a step slow to react against the drive. IUSB was too quick and punished both things.

Let's go with 25 minutes of good focus and effort...I can live with a few possessions where he loses it in another 5 to 10 minutes, we'll probably need him 30+. That would make him a star.

More his BSU norm. His weaknesses can be exploited, has to be red hot to overcome that

I was disappointed in the student section attendance. Are they on break already?

I was disappointed in the student section attendance. Are they on break already? Not til Wednesday. Bummer. Maybe it was the opponent. I appreciate Lewis’ efforts to build hype but Earlham and IUSB arent the most exciting teams to bring in.

To me Bumbalough looked totally disengaged today when he was out on the court when through the motions and got yanked out as a result. Someone said this already but i he can’t suck it up and push through and become the ball player Lewis wants then I see him moving on and Lewis being just fine with that.

We were about a second behind on close outs and gave up so many lay ups. Bumb does not look for and now passes out of decent looks It looked that way. If he draws defense out and gets the ball and is quickly covered up, passes, that's OK. If he isn't ready to shoot, hesitates, defense can get out on him, and that's why he has to pass, not OK. A couple of times it was the latter. Maybe a couple where it was early in a possession, and OK to look for a better shot. Almost always OK to look inside early. I didn't see him wide open and set, then catch, and shoot. Never been good at that.

Wow! Four games into the season and all this woe? It’s going to take some time for the adjustments and roles to define. I’m sure the players want to win much more than any of us critical fans. Not expecting too much, I just think this team might be a surprise.

To me Bumbalough looked totally disengaged today when he was out on the court when through the motions and got yanked out as a result. With Windham, Pearson, playing pretty well and Sellers getting back, his opportunity for PT declines. Owens White should get some minutes, when he gets back. If Cleary ever breaks out Bumb has gotta get back in the groove shooting to have much of a role at all.

It seemed that there wasn't much offensive movement in the game. There was a lot of 1 ON 1 with 4 players watching. Thought Coach Lewis would use ball movement to improve the offense.
