Our big game with Illinois State is Saturday at 3:30. Kenpom has us 3 point favorites and espn gives a 62.4% chance of winning. It is always nice to beat a Missouri Valley team. BSU by 4 in a hard fought game.

It’s interesting that Kenpom would put us 70 spots ahead of them but only be 3 point favorites. Does he explain how a team being 70 spots ahead of the other results in such a tight spread?

Seems about right, it's parity. 3 points isn't that much difference, but both teams are in the middle 1/2 of the distribution where teams are pretty even. We're dead center in his ratings.
This is another game where we better play with the intensity we have been showing, and if we do, I'd expect a win. If not or if the other team is clicking on all fires, who knows.

Does Vegas even use kenpom? Teh kenpom ratings, or something very similar are likely one of the inputs the books use to set the initial line. But they will move a line up or down very readily to attempt to attract the same amount of money on either team. A lopsided betting situation puts them in a situation of risk...which ironically is the last thing a betting outfit wants. |

Does Vegas even use kenpom? The ratings all suffer from not weighting recent performance accurately, and of course the ratings don't include information about losing a player that may have occured except to the extent they occured enough earlier that it has changed enough recent performance to matter. |

This game is really showing the difference in our play with Lewis's coaching this year. We cut down their ability to rebound in the 2nd half we can get the win.

Rebounding stats are sometimes misleading...but we are getting killed on the boards in every way.

Sparks being out with 2 fouls hurt us for sure inside on offense and defense. They are giving us a lot of open looks and we are making them pay for that. Let’s hope we keep it up in the second half.
