I can remember when it was announced Coleman was returning to Ball State there were many of us concerned whether he could adjust & handle Lewis’ coaching style. I believe he sat a couple of games mid-season at Mizzou for disciplinary reasons. His care-free style of play just didn’t seem like it was going to be a good fit. Last night’s stat line was truly impressive: - 22 points - 8 rebounds - 7 assists - 0 turnovers Wow!! Love the 0 TO’s!!! It’s just a single game, but Coleman appears to be thriving under Coach Lewis. Coleman is growing up. Still has moments of trying for the highlight reel play or tries to do too much, but overall so much better than what we saw before. He's bought in. We are 6 deep, with Bumb and Windham usually only able to give cursory minutes. We're gonna wear down unless a true bench develops.

The problem is where the crowd mic is placed. Our broadcasts have taken a couple steps back this year unfortunately. SportsLink was producing the game last night. They do things a little different than the regular crew. I don't know that SL puts out crowd mics. And the headsets they use pick up a LOT of external noise. Media Services does most of the games, they have some new (and young) people that are picking up the finer points of sports broadcasting.

Can someone pony up some money ($50) to get a clock that shows tenths of seconds? Just one combo clock (like the ones on the backboards) can run over $2000. And the Daktronics scoreboard controller would have to be capable of delivering tenths of a second, so that would have to be replaced too. And those are very expensive. I don't think the shot clock normally shows tenths anyway...? Just game clock under 1 minute.

Agree and his scoring stat line should have been “28” but he got hosed on that shot!

Yeah, my comment earlier was really directed to the mic picking up the lady behind the announcers, not towards her actually making noise at the game (which is generally encouraged). But those mics they were using last night were picking up a lot of background noise surrounding the subjects (especially the one particular lady)...

Coleman MVP to date!
Jacobs definitely the engine!
Sparks got to pick up his free throw percentage but his footwork is a key to his scoring.
We need him on the floor 30 minutes Vs Kent State!
I hope Boogie gets in Thomas head kind of like Paris used to do!

Great win! I hope that we got Western's best shot last night. Norman hit some shots that were from another planet. 17 for 17 FT? We got through and overcame a great game by Western, shitty refs and many of our own dumb moves. Over coming the adversity of our bigs foul trouble was huge. Kent and Coleman matchup will be very interesting. Will Thomas shut Coleman down? Which BSU player will take on Thomas? Hopefully our defense will slow Kent down so that we are not blown out in the first 10 minutes. No Debbie Downer here on this one just an astute observation

I've heard them complain about the headsets in particular. Apparently the older models were really good, but you can't get those anymore. The new ones have double-sided mics that pick up everything.

In my opinion, we have (or maybe I should say Lewis has) something called The Coleman Conundrum.
Coleman is clearly a talented player, he loves to have the ball in his hands during important moments, wants to take big shots ... but it's probably not in the team's best interest to give him control of the ball/team/game 95% of the time, which is why Jacobs is so important.
But that 5% of the time, like late in last night's game and in a few other games this year when nothing else is really working as planned, you almost have to just give him the ball and let him do his thing.
Persons was somewhat like that, too. Clutch player, wanted to take the big shot, and could deliver, but overall the more he dominated the ball the worse we were.

However, if you back to the Ohio game, Windham gave us a quality performance in extended minutes. He was alsobplaying well earlier this year as well. I think he is the logical player to be relieving in the backcourt. I witnessed up close the ass chewing Coach Lewis’ gave Windham at the Miami game. Not saying it wasn’t deserved. But, I hope at some point Coach pumps him up a little because we definitely need him. Based on body language, Windham seems like he might be a sensitive kid. Can’t wait for Friday night! Go Cards!!

The dunk is #5 on ESPN today! When was the last time we had a basketball highlight there? After watching that play I reminisced back to Chandler’s immortal highlight. I thought….”that might be as good as Thompson’s”. So I went to Google and watched. Nope.

The run to the basket, and focus on the rim from half court got the crowd anticipating built up.
Chandler was a bolt and shock, quick, powerful, what a finish.
