They were very competitive with Wisconsin for most of the game. It will be a tough one.

Wisconsin is suspect this year, going through program leadership and philosophy changes. But agree, this will be tough.

Get smoked we are 9-12. Pretty simple stuff I think we'll get smoked. Based on what I've seen so far we seem to be in the 9-12 category. We're just not as athletic and quick as them and our offense is unable to get much in the passing game. WR position is weak and without Brady Hunt we lack that 1-2 punch at TE. Koziol is a stud but he'd be even better if defenses had to account for Hunt at the same time. Koziol can line up wide and get mismatches if he doesn't HAVE to be the TE. I did see a lot of sets with Webster at TE/hybrid back with Koziol having more freedom. But Hunt is an NFL talent and we need him out there. I would guess we won't see him till next week at the earliest. Oline stuggled in pass pro vs freaking Indiana St. Semonza had to bail or create something out of nothing back there too often. OLine HAS to get better for us to have any chance of success in the MAC. Semonza is a freshman. It's really hard to win with a freshman QB if you don't have all the pieces around him. Ga. Southern isn't in the league of Georgia but I bet they could beat Kentucky. We might hang early but once we start making our usual mistakes, it's over.

They had recent glory but are projected as a lower half team in the SunBelt this year with a second year coach. If we lose at home.......

I think we're at a disadvantage there..... We could be a good program under Neu given the talent we've gotten at certain spots, but, when you see the same mental and physical mistakes EVERY game EVERY year you understand why we are pretty much a 5 win team every year that leaves at minimum 2 wins a year on the table because of poor coaching and poor fundamentals. Even the year we went to a bowl after the championship season we had another division "championship" in our grasp and pulled the usual crap vs. NIU and blew that game and collapsed the rest of the way till we beat a really bad UB team the last game of the year to get the 6th win. So I guess I'm saying I don't have confidence in a Neu coached team to win games like this one.

GS is a good team. Tough game. This would be a good win. Very much like winning a MAC game against a top 5 MAC school.

Don’t forgot how miserable we looked at home against WMU in 2020 with the division championship on the line. I think WMU had like 23 first downs in the first half. WMU just shot themselves in the foot when they were about to score or else that would have been our last game of that season.

We tried every possible way to lose that game, including that insane last play with all the laterals/failing to secure a lose ball/entire team running on the field while play was still in progress. Thankfully WMU had that illegal forward lateral in all that mess or we lose in the most embarrassing manner possible. (and I haven't forgotten the terrible clock management on our final scoring drive where we got the field goal. Plitt was getting the ball snapped with multiple seconds left on the play clock each down that left wmu with time to at least start a drive) Two teams that shot both their feet off that day.

If coach Neu is to return next year he needs to win this game & have a season in which we reach a bowl. I don't see him returning if we finish with 5 wins again.

Seem to rely on their passing attack. They could exploit our secondary that tends to play 10 yards off of the receiver.

Could it be better of course but its a good MAC D. Ohio Miami Toledo are probably the only better. The days of teams holding other like teams too 14-21 points are over. No one does it anymore youth college nfl etc. Our prob is the offense keeping up and putting D in impossible situations time and time again

Did y'all see the Michael Lewis interview with Neu on Twitter “X” / Instagram, offering up a student party for the GaSouthern game? I would post but am Instagram-challenged.
Interesting that Lewis talks a mile-a-minute and Neu stands beside him and says absolutely nothing.
