Based on how he acted in the presser, Neu is very aware either he has to make changes, or he's getting fired. The new AD is pissed about Saturday's embarrassing loss. I'm sure there's been an ultimatum given to Neu, but they may not be able to do anything until the end of the season. I agree, Lurkin. He looked like a guy who believes he has lost his team ('they don't have confidence in what we're doing'). It hasn't helped that he has lost three important pieces on offense to injury (Hunt, Pemberton and Robinson) and a huge loss on defense in Coll. And we don't talk much on this board about how NIL and the transfer portal has completely changed the job of being a college football coach. But the yo-yo situation at QB, the relentless coach-speak, and his stubbornness and loyalty to underachieving coaches is all on him. He doesn't seem to understand that in college football loyalty is conditional and that condition is you have to win. He has not won here and his record says as much but I do think we can say that we have competed. What felt different this past Saturday is that we didn't even look like we were trying to do that. He said all the right things in the press conference about it starting with him but actions speak louder than words. If I'm the AD I would immediately recognize that this guy, while a nice enough man, is not going to change. Apparently there was a players' only meeting this week because some of the veterans were pissed that guys were not bothered enough by the loss (laughing and joking on the sidelines and in the locker room after, etc.) or were more concerned about their own numbers. At this point, I'm just hoping that the game is not over by halftime... Yep, the body language during the game was not good. It was clear our guys didn’t have confidence in anything we were doing. I think they could tell from the start our gameplan sucked and our staff was overmatched and no adjustments would be forthcoming. We were gonna run the same crap no matter how obvious it was we were dead in the water. The defense figured some things out but when we came out of the locker room after halftime and went right back to the definition of insanity they pretty much gave up. We all gave up. And let’s keep letting Kelly get a little bit of momentum going and then take him out on 3rd downs. Or hey, ask him to run the option, which we haven’t run before, in the red zone and watch it go to hell ….
