HVAC issues open up a new and possibly very fruitful vein of excuses! As if the air wasn’t already sucked out of this season already!

It can now be revealed that Whitford's 2014 5-win season was entirely due to certain furnace filters not being changed out by the maintenance staff.

I dont buy its facilities only. You dont choose that setting to take a shot at facilities. Gotta be something deeper IMO

It’s all piling up on him with his team failing and it boiled over. Evidently he’s not getting satisfaction but man, keep that internal. And if your team keeps keep making the same mental errors, well…..

I think we are seeing a dissappointed coach facing a schedule with a team that's rapidly tiring thus losing an edge at the end of the games. It's not going to get easier for the six guys he is playing. A long way to the finish. Still hoping for a winning season.

Hate to say it but shades of Ronny Thompson and basketballs in those comments.
Hope for the sake of Coach Lewis and the university that this relationship isn't headed in the same direction.

I don’t think it has to do with maintenance, but I bet it has to do with availability of the arena. You have women’s basketball, men’s volleyball, and gymnastics trying to coordinate practice time, so maybe Lewis wasn’t getting the time he wanted.

But I thought the Shondell facility was supposed to alleviate that.

I mean it's great that women's basketball, men's volleyball and gymnastics are having great seasons, but those three combined cannot provide the prominence and visibility that would be produced by a successful men's basketball program. Of course, nobody currently associated with BSU athletics probably knows that.

“Completed in 2013, the state-of-the-art Ball State Gymnastics Practice Facility is located in the Jo Ann Gora Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
Considered one of the finest gymnastics practice enters in the country, the facility features five beams, two vaults, a floor, two uneven bars, two single bars, six pits, a tumble track and an in-ground trampoline.”
So, why is women’s gymnastics practice an issue in this?

Maybe they've taken up all the tables in the training room and used up all the tape?

They have a home meet tonight at 7 (on ESPN+). Along with the women's basketball team's game yesterday, maybe the arena schedule is getting crowded. Whatever the reason for Lewis' outburst, it doesn't reflect well on him. He hasn't accomplished anything to pull the prima donna act.

I dont buy its facilities only. You dont choose that setting to take a shot at facilities. Gotta be something deeper IMO I like cardfan theory it is a cumulative complaint, or repeated event. There are a couple of areas where Lewis might have conflict with other teams. Potential is also there in just lack of support he might expect and not get. Facilities might be facing cutbacks in personnel or budget, not able to do what they have always done? If it is schedule conflict with some maintenaînce project, and then some kind of blowback in a beef about that, or lack of support by AD or other high administrator I could see that being a straw breaking camel's back and taking a stand. If not facilities I'm always thinking academic issues. Players might have conflict with prof or ed resources or advising and the administrator or even Provost might back up the staff member. Player(s) missing class or assignments due to travel or practice? If Provost vs AD or the like, AD couldn't take beef public. A coach normally wouldn't, but again if it's a chronic situation, we've seen coaches do that. Majerus, Ray, Buckley, and several on the FB side, gripes outside the athletic department that became known to exist in the public.
