“Completed in 2013, the state-of-the-art Ball State Gymnastics Practice Facility is located in the Jo Ann Gora Student Recreation and Wellness Center... Maybe they've taken up all the tables in the training room and used up all the tape? You joke, but staff shortages could create conflict in any number of areas.

Difficult to say without knowing the details. Lewis could be calling out roadblocks from the university that have been holding back the program...which would be good. Or possibly he is just frustrated at his own losing and is being a whiner.
This matter being brought up amidst a 1-7 stretch is suggestive but not conclusive.

Men’s basketball practiced in the Arena all week with the volleyball team being in Texas playing USC Thursday and Stanford Saturday. I don’t think this was a facilities issue at all. It was the way we handled the final 2 minutes of the game making terribly poor decisions that caused Coach Lewis to blow a fuse. BSU had the game won and handed it to Miami and that is tough for any coach and die hard fan to handle. Hopefully it will never happen again!

And Lewis kept the team on the road between the Toledo and EMU games Saturday to Tuesday of last week. Wednesday would have been the first day for any facility related issues. Could it be related to the players absence from campus on Monday?

Could it be related to the players absence from campus on Monday? That sounds like it...University would have expected two relatively short bus rides.

Perhaps there was a financial component here the university didn’t appreciate and he didn’t appreciate it being unappreciated.

What I liked about your theory is this is a case of some ongoing friction, I don't see Lewis as a bean counter and when budgets get tight everybody top down gets pressure to think rules and penny pinching. Pennywise rules often cost money long run.

Not that we are going to make tournament but this is done to simulate tournament settings and conditions.. Many schools do this once or twice a year

Not that we are going to make tournament but this is done to simulate tournament settings and conditions. Seems like this could be done a lot cheaper

I would have thought the University Wokesters would applaud Lewis’ obvious attempt at reducing the athletic department carbon footprint 🤷♂️

To summarize Lewis’s comments about the cryptic statement in the previous presser: (after UB GAME kid asked if he’d comment, good for him) it’s a personnel issue not a facilities issue. Looking out for wellbeing of one of the players. Lewis felt his rights were violated. Not happy about that and said he’d feel same way about any athlete or any student on campus. Reiterated it’s a personal and personnel issue not facilities and he complimented facilities staff. University is working through the issue.
1. Good on Lewis for being willing to elaborate. 2. Yikes. 3. Presser is now up on YouTube. Big Ben and Mickey went first.
