I mean you heard the same things heading up to camp that we all we did.. Kelly heard the same things,, None of it was hidden We'll probably never know everything, but as the plan changed you gotta wonder how Kelly was involved in the decision, when and how it all went down. As fans nobody owes us or has to keep us in the loop. Kelly and other players, that's different. That wasn't done in the press. Are you sure that Kelly did not hear of possible changes in the plan for the first time after the DN article dropped? |

Well, that and your original question why Neu reversed course abruptly in his public statements. Or was one of those statements not what it seemed? When was whatever decision made and how was it made? The DN article sure made it look like Kelly was at this point committed to D and settling in there. So...looks like he knew, and was not thinking about offense, anyway. I just want to see a player used well and ending up having his best interests served given everything that has happened. Internal team decisions leaking out haphazardly, or bad communication with the press, both possible. Along with the worst concerns, there are alternative possibilities. |

Kelly has said hes fine with switching to D.. Its also no secret the 2nd part of the pich to bring him back was that he would still have a qb package be used on other offensive sets and return kicks making him a full true 2 way player. Mike echoed this for months publicly the suddenly it all changed... None of this hard to figure out

Really no mystery there it was after spring meetings where he was informed He would not he the Qb and Demonza had won the job..

He entered portal on April 16th playing Db was not a thing.. I knew the plan on may 5th He officially returned may 6 or 7th. Mike then spent May june July talking about that exact plan numerous times most recently on record at Mac media day July 19/20. Daily news article dropped august 6th
There are no secrets here its all public info except what happened between the July 19th and Aug 6th for mike to change his tune... Remember this is also a time when there were little to no organized team activities going on.

We should worry more about the who, when, how and why, and what went on with staff and players, worry a little less about whether coaches made sense in the press. |

With players, they probably say what they're really thinking but then players change what they think.
Taking KO or punt duties is not going to take a lot of practice time. Working up the occasional gadget play isn't that hard either. A "package" with different timing and blocking was either tried out or not, and if it was dropped and is off the table, it wouldn't be so easy as just throwing in a rep at WR.

However, for some reason, our coaching staff has to be dragged kicking and screaming into letting Kelly touch the football. |

Someone mentioned needing all the snaps to get up to speed at DB this I agree BUT what if thats still not enough and he is not ready. As much as like Kelly I want to win so if there are better options they need to be out there.. Problem with that is then you have Kelly whos not even a backup qb anymore(zero snaps) who has not ran plays with the offense(zero snaps) sitting on the bench for the 4th year. Im going to use Mike owns words here.. NFL Talent, Most explosive athletic kid on the team maybe in MAC.. A great kid who he did not want too see come off the field unless it was q quick water break.... All these accolades not said by fans asistant coaches or media.. All Said by the head coach.. How after 4 years have you not figured out a way to use this kid
Lets bounce back for a second then Im done and we will just see how it plays out
Pulling a kid back out of the portal is different than originally recruiting him.. In originally recruitment you can get away with you will be given the oppurtunity, we can see you doing this or that etc.. Generic non guaranteeing terms and statements.. When you call a kid and beg him back from the portal and you tell both the player and the parents this is the plan this is what we are going to do. If you dont at least get close the plan its more than typical broken recruitment coach speak.. It becomes more straight up lying to a kid and parents and wasting yet another year of the kids limited time playing football. Hopefully this is all much to do about nothing and everyone comes out smelling like a rose

I think there is alot of bull shit on that rose altering it's smell and the true integrity of that rose. Not using Kelly in any meaningful way for 4 years with inept play calling and now the flat out appearance of lying to him has created a significant pile of shit approaching the height of Mt. Everest. It doesn't matter to me if we have a glorious season the coach has to go. Agree I am done commenting on this as I have worn the letters off my key board as it appears that many of you have also.
