As I said in another post the stories will start to come out.. I can confirm what Jdawg is saying most if not all liked even loved Mike and Kev as people but much like us realized as coaches they were not very good... Now we have a diff prob this current team seems to love elliot as a coach/plsycaller.. If we want to keep at least the core new coach will need to retain elliot. They seem firm on this Let them all leave. Really, how much worse can it get? Not much

That’s concerning to me that some of these guys are sitting there saying ‘if he comes to be the HC I’ll stay’ as if they have some kind of leverage. Are you fricking kidding me?!?! Like you weren’t part of this circus…they preach accountability to the players but don’t want to accept any themselves. It’s going to come down to what Mitchell thinks is necessary…complete reset or something less than that. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that a few of us on this board could get together and make the right managerial decisions and let them coach football. If you’ve run a business or been part of a successful enterprise you know pretty much know what needs to be done.

Players voicing their opinions regarding coaching change is hardly new; been going on for decades.
And, at least as I can recall, administrators who kowtow to players wishes for fear that they'll leave or not buy in rarely make good hires.

I saw earlier someone mention Semonza and that he was 81st qb in the country.. Thats likely much better than we are going to get out of the portal or be able to recruit remember he was a freshman. During one of the games this year the announcers were really hyping Semonza.. It got me thinking so I went through and totaled up Semonzas numbers through his first 12 games. 4 frpm last year 8 this and sent only the numbers to card fan and asked whose numbers are these.. Cardfan texts back wenning I then sent wennings numbers through 12.. Its not close Semonza is better in every category hands down by alot. It was shocking but true.. I guess we fall into remembering the jr/sr version of players and compare it to what we are seeing as a freshman.. Wenning did not become wenning till his JR year GP COM AT INT YARDS TD LON % YD % ypg enning freshman year stats 2010 2010 12 128-235-14 1373 14 63 54.5 5.8 114.4 111.3 sEMONZA THROUGH 10 THIS YEAR 2024 10 227 343 10 2360 20 72 .66 10.4 236.0 Yeah, but oh man, that team Wenning's freshman year flat out sucked donkey balls. The OL was absolutely horrible. Keith was on his back more than on his feet. I'd take Keith Wenning any day over Semonza on a myriad of metrics. I agree with the poster that said Koziol made Semonza look like a decent QB. Losing Semonza would be a great big no big deal to me. Short QB's with a mid to weak arm are a dime a dozen.

I understand all those dynamics…however, a couple of factors: - if you’re telling me (as a potential head coach like Stockton or Faulkner) who my OC is going to be as a condition of hire, that’s going to be a huge problem. I could go to Central Michigan or Kent State, and some other places, and assemble my staff the way I want to. - Elliott’s success as a play-caller has a lot to do with Koziol who has saved Semonza from a slew of INT’s this year. Again, film doesn’t lie. Koziol is either going to be on an NFL roster or getting a huge NIL deal somewhere else - If it’s true that Neu turned the play-calling over to Elliott he should also take a lot of blame for the late-game play calling. I have yet to hear anybody on this board defend that BS (we needed 5-7 yards for a game-winning field goal and you threw it 3 straight times) we saw the last couple of games where it clearly looked like they were coaching towards individual performances - a few players said the Miami and Buffalo defenses said the same thing to them after the game: we couldn’t believe you didn’t run the ball more - if I’m Mitchell I want a complete re-set on the coaching front. If you take a king out of the castle and put him in a circus, he’s not a king anymore, he’s a clown. Neu deserves a ton of credit for building a fantastic player culture but the same can’t be said for the coaching culture at Ball State. And to beat a dead horse, a lot of these coaches failed Mike. - generally speaking, players and/or their parents should not be dictating what we do or holding us hostage. A lot of these players are/have departed already. In the past, we’ve accommodated these demands and they still left for an NIL deal or were kicked off the team because they thought they were running the show. If you want to leave, so be it. The portal will allow us to build quickly. Agreed. Great insights. I always really appreciate your contributions to the board. And honestly, sure, let's let a bunch of kids who couldn't win games pressure us into coach hiring decisions. That's a little harsh and probably a little unfair, but still, nada. You can't let the tail wag the dog. This program needs a complete overhaul, and even then I'd place the odds of success as very low because the program will always be grossly underfunded and under-supported relative to our peers.

Trying to add this without adding this... A name already mentioned says if a former recent coach is brought back and current coach is retained he and others will 100% stay If another coach already listed above with a ties from years ago comes back he would likely stay if a coach is retained Now the best chance for the above to happen would be Stockton keeping elliot.. Stockton def minded Elliot offensive minded already worked together etc. Faulkner I would say no way unless its written in which then in turn may make him so no No way a brand new coach does this unless he is a puss so we wouldnt want him anyway Understood…and I could see how something like that could work successfully provided that there is an understanding that there is only 1 Head Coach. The biggest reason Faulkner is so appealing to me is because he comes from that Tomlin school which emphasizes culture over everything else…it’s why Tomlin has been so successful for so long and this program desperately needs that approach…maybe Stockton brings that element as well…I still feel like a whole reset is needed… 100% agree with your Faulkner comments. He would bring a true winning culture. I call Mike's culture fake to a certain degree. A feel good culture with no results is one thing, a winning culture is another thing. A winning culture requires accountability AND camaraderie. A winning culture adds buy-in and discipline (as in fundamentals, no stupid penalties, limited mistakes, knowing the playbook, going to class, etc.). Faulkner would be a 100% no-nonsense guy who would build a culture of accountability (which Neu did not do), period, but he would also do the camaraderie things well that Mike did.

If you’ve run a business or been part of a successful enterprise you know pretty much know what needs to be done. I’ve not heard the adoration of the OC like many of you mentioning. Players like him better than Lynch? Unquestionably. Demanding he must remain for player retention? Maybe 1 or 2 who are likely to leave anyway. There was at least consistency year over year on offense. Defense was behind the 8-ball from the get go. Stockton left at an inopportune time, and by the time Knowles came on, he couldn’t gather a staff. DB coach and DC never on the same page, the defensive backfield gutted by departures, injuries, and inexperience. We lament the critical coaching gaffes that we see on offense but this team really hasn’t had serious issues scoring. It’s when the other team scores 40+ that magnifies the offensive missteps. On short, time to bring a whole new slate of coaches, head to toe. Our talent is relative to the MAC as a whole— certainly good enough to be bowl-bound. Koziol will go. Semonza? Might stay - he has at least one other reason to stay in Muncie, and where else could he go that would be a step up for him? All said, don’t think players are trying to strong arm admin. I hear most are looking forward to the change, even if uncertainty is scary.

Outside of Koziol, I can’t think of anyone that couldn’t be replaced. I mean, this is a 3-7 team we’re talking about here. Moreover, I would think that the AD isn’t going to allow players to dictate what happens. They’re be gone in a year or two and he’ll be the one to answer for his decisions.
