Jacobs’ steal/score off Bates was HUGE Play of the game.

Eastern must have a team hair stylist on staff I was going to say… multiple players with pigtails is pretty unusual.

The school continues to complain about attendance. BUT : 3 day notice on basketball game change. Friday night basketball. November week night football games. All for TV revenue and publicity? You have to try to get fans to the games before you can complain about poor fan attendance! More worried about TV revenue and publicity than the fans! Part of Lewis' "no-filter" mode was after the Buffalo game he said if he had paid to watch that he wouldn't come back. I'm really curious to see attendance tonight. We appear back on track and are having a good season, but weeknight games are killer. Gotta have a good student turnout.

At some point during the second half we wear down a little after playing tough intense defense. It shows up in some of the FT shooting although we also missed them in the first half. Watched part of the E. Mich game and we had better watch out for them. One guy not Bates went for 25 and hit one from about 4ft past the mid line. Bates also hit an unbelievable shot from about the same distance. Hoping that Eastern got those shots out of their system. Eastern is picking up steam. I'm less comfortable about this game than I was a couple of weeks ago.

I’m glad the BGSU center was more focused on trying to shatter the backboard than on putting the ball through the hoop.

Can’t let the Ohio game repeat. Gotta finish this strong.

I saw CMU-WMU was a close finish so I tuned in and it looked like a sell-out raucous crowd at CMU. Not sure if it was a special event or a hated rival or what but I was very surprised.

Coleman did lead with his example. It wasn't hero ball in this instance the others could not get out of the frozen shock they were in to allow themselves to be elevated. It is hero ball when everyone is playing there ass off and someone selfishly goes off on their own to shine the light on them. Chochran and Coleman in the past have done this. How could this team not be inspired by his effort and points made to get back in the game. The behind the back pass did not work but if it had I think Pearson would have scored. There was one missed 3 pointer from Coleman late in the game that Lewis went nuts over.

I would consider Jacob’s a quiet leader, leads by example. Coleman is flamboyant, very animated and expresses his feelings to the officials very frequently. When the team huddles together at the free throw line, Coleman is usually taking the bull by the horn and doing the chirping to his teammates. Right, and I think Lewis wants Jacob to be more vocal. I think Lewis complained that not enough guys talk.

Coleman was his typical Jekyll & Hyde. His shooting got us back into the game and he is fearless which we need. His turnovers and hero ball killed us and helped dig the 20+ point hole we found ourselves in. His emotions are his strength and weakness but when he goes full Boogie and tries to do everything himself or make the spectacular pass it's fatal. In fairness, the rest of our team absolutely wilted almost from the tip and we had ZERO answer for the high screen/roll they ran the whole game. It also didn't hurt Buffalo that they hit virtually everything in the first 10 minutes while we looked like the Keystone Kops. I'll trust Lewis' judgment but I thought his comments on Coleman being the Alpha male in the locker room and praising his knowledge of the game were a little concerning. I'll accept that Coleman has come a long way since he was here last, but if you would have told me coming into the season that Coleman would be THE leader on this team, I would have thought that probably wasn't the greatest thing. I think I would have much rather preferred that leadership come from another experienced player, perhaps Jacobs, and I thought maybe we were getting that early in the year. Or maybe, by this time of the year, Sellers, although maybe a bit much to ask for a sophomore. Coleman is pretty good as the go-to guy when you're struggling offensively and need a basket, but as THE leader of the team? I'm not so sure. Pure speculation here, but I think that’s Lewis’ way of pushing Jacobs. I get the impression Lewis thinks Jacobs can and should be doing more.

It will be interesting to see how both teams respond to their previous game. I thought the same thing, who would have guessed a few weeks ago that NIU would come into this game with more confidence? We might not even be favored.

We’re entering into the easiest stretch we’re going to see this season. Gotta make hay while the sun shines and hope we are clicking on all fires when we hit those last four games.
