Question is, can he bring them back to earth and really focus on good solid basketball tonight. I'm actually glad it is against a top team. Perfect time for a let down against a lessor opponent. top team but lessor opponent? I think he was saying he’s glad we’re playing a top team because if we were playing a lesser opponent we would be primed for a letdown. Unless you guys are both talking about rental agreements in which case I’m very confused. |

We know Akron is afraid if they are resorting to mind games with us. Lewis is breaking BSU tendencies (e.g. beating the teams we are supposed to beat; not collapsing at the end of games) but I've got 20 years of seeing the guy who is playing injured or his backup having a career game against us. |

The only real reason I try to defend Whit and the previous coaching staff is because I've seen how hard they've worked in the past, and then I come on here and see all these people just absolutely ripping them and not giving them any breaks. They were doing their best, but nobody on here seems to care. And knowing all those coaches and players very personally, and seeing how this negative feedback affects them, that's hard for me to take, so I feel like I should try to defend them. Hopefully, someone on here can understand that. Probably not. Coaching a Division 1 Basketball team is a zero-sum game. Trying hard is great and all, but results are what matters. Unfortunately, he had some personal issues that were a distraction to him, and it impacted the team's performance. Personally, I thought he was a good guy, I always had good interactions with him. But he's a much better assistant than a head coach. That's a better fit for his personality. That’s life in general. “Yeah my wheel came off while I was driving 70 down the freeway but my mechanic was trying his best so no worries.” “Sure it’s a wrongful conviction due to ineffective assistance of counsel but my lawyer was trying his best so I’ll let him handle the appeal.” “The rest of my life will be miserable pain due to my doctor’s error, but he was trying his best so it’s all good.” Nope. I would have loved nothing more than for Whitford to have delivered. And I bear no personal ill will against him. If I met him I would be very friendly towards him. But he needed to not be our head basketball coach anymore. I also understand the urge to defend the guy that everyone is shitting on. Our board right now is definitely that girl who can’t stop talking about what a jerk her ex was. |

Have you ever been to Cincy or Boise? Cincy beautiful with hills and the Ohio river adding tons of character. I lived there five years. Boise great outdoor city with beautiful Mountain View’s and cool downtown area and vibe. We will go if Ball U is in either bowl. Indy (lived there 5 years as well)…no thanks Now Detroit and NY (pinstripe)….uhhhh that’s a hard no! A true Ball State fan would make a trip to Indianapolis to see the Cardinals play. I guess you're just not a true fan. It's ok - more glory for the rest of us who actually do support the red and white. |

The L to Michigan Tech is all you need to know about Whitford's tenure. In fact, I think that may have been the final straw. We should never lose to a D2 team. Ever. This was from the post-game coverage of the Michigan Tech loss. I think this quote tells more about Whitford's tenure than the actual loss itself. |

Akron is highly rated by Kenpom but I just looked at their schedule and it looks like they’ve beaten the bad teams they’ve played and lost to the good teams they’ve played. No impressive wins, and some big losses. Miss State, LSU, Marshall, and Bradley all beat them by double digits.

Yep, he dominated the ball and took horrible shots. I don't think he meshed well at all. Seemed like a loner on the floor. He is a very weird player. First, he doesn't really have a position. He does some things well when he's on, but he's very up and down. He creates chaos in an offense. You end up with him dribbling with his head down all over the place and 4 other guys standing around. Yeah he put his head down and forearm out and bulled Coleman backward yesterday and somehow got a call against Coleman. |

Lewis needs to be rewarded with some butts in the seats. He and this team are showing that they deserve it Yep, first thing I started thinking after the game was whether I can figure out a way to make it up from Indy for the late Friday tipoff. |

I had to delay at halftime so I just finished. Wow, that was impressive. I could really get used to this winning thing. I totally expected the Toledo comeback, but Lewis appears to have instilled a toughness for us not to fold. Love it!
