Lol we’ve played two games and lost on the road and half of you are doom and glooming already. This was the first time he’s seen them play against real competition. He will be able to show them film and make adjustments. Long long way to go. Yeah I’m not happy but I’m not too worried. My biggest concern is that we didn’t seem as intense as I was expecting us to look.

We will miss Sellers this game. We could use another athletic guard with a little size on the defense. Unless Windham can turn in a good defensive game or one of the newcomers can do the job, Bumbalough will have to play very hard to defend their guards. It may be a test of our ability to help on his man. I suppose it's possible we see Coleman more as a guard if we can effectively play Jihad and Pearson more minutes in a traditional 2 guard lineup if Bumb can't get it done. Sellers available would give us the depth and size we could need at guard. Cleary had a good offensive showing, and he's athletic enough to defend. I'll be curious if that can be counted on. He and Windham and Coleman could give us some good players on the wing. When is sellers back?? He’s in.

ISU has established a bit of a lead in the series history, so we need to start to chip away at that.
According to the preview on the website we hold a 74-62 series lead, so I was way off here. I cant remember where I was looking but I thought I’d just seen that ISU led the series.

At halftime, Bates (17 points) and Farrakhan (15 points) lead Eastern Michigan over #22 ranked Michigan 45 to 42. He’s looked good. A little out of control, but good.

Is there still a weekly coaches show? I watch Neu’s show on Youtube each week. I never even wondered about Whitford having a show, but I remember Billy Taylor having a weekly thing at Applebees or something.

I do feel strongly about this--that our scout will be better than it has been in years, our focus will be better, our intensity will be better, and our effort will be better. If our energy level is what it needs to be we will beat ISU. If adjustments need to be made in game, they will happen. Can be certain that getting the ball to Sparks in good spots to score will be the focus, and we won't be allowed to settle for jacking up 3's. I imagine if one of the guys gets 3 happy, he's coming out unless he's hitting them. I'm looking forward to seeing how Lewis game plans/makes adjustments vs ISU as the game plays out, and how we defend. I thought there wee some moments where we got a little lazy/slow to react on back cuts/baseline dribble drives by Earlham but none of it was fatal. (as the score indicated) But we gotta keep better guards off their mark. I liked that Lewis said something along of lines of it being hard to criticize a defense only giving up 39 points but there were improvements to be made on D.

1) Only one team in the MAC has a QB who has made every single passing attempt for their team and it’s Ball State. I think this is irrelevant without context. How many of those backups played due to injury? How many teams switched starters would be more relevant, but would also need consideration of where they were in the season and whether the switch worked. 2) Only one team has such a huge gap between their #1 and #2 running backs in terms of carries and it’s Ball State. No other team has Carson Steele. 3) There is a very different philosophy to developing players on the offensive side of the ball at Ball State. Besides Steele seeming to get stronger every time someone hits him I don't think I've really seen any player development on either side of the ball. Plitt maybe got a little less reckless with the ball, but his starting point was insanely reckless, so that's not much. 4) If you have such low trust in players that you’re not putting them in the game at all, then you have recruited the wrong players-or failed to develop-those players. While a lot of positions need some rotation, you put your best players on the field as much as possible. The Chiefs never play Chad Henne at QB. Did they hire the wrong guy? Or do you just not play Chad Henne when Patrick Mahomes is ready to go? And to the few of you out there who are going to think I'm saying Paddock = Mahomes, that's not what I'm saying.

MACtion. Could have had a 3-way tie in the East but BGSU and Buffalo both choke. Ohio coming to town the sole #1 in the east.

I'm with you for all of that except for the first collegiate snap coming at the biggest moment of the season. We should have been breaking them in throughout the year, but that ship has sailed. Basically all I know is what Rob has reported, which was that Blazek is a pocket passer who needs time to pass and Kelly has a big arm but would require a whole new offense. I'm not saying Paddock is good, I just don't see either of those guys being the answer.
I'm also not a "the coaches know best" guy. If there was literally a single person saying "Blazek looks better in practice than Paddock but Neu is being stubborn" I would consider changing my tune.
If Paddock goes down with a knee injury on the first snap of the OU game, what do you do? Exactly. Forfeit.

Why couldn't WMU play like dumbasses like they are tonight, when the played BSU I feel like both WMU and NIU both fell to pieces after us.

So you would have put Blazek or Kelly in the game last night in the fourth quarter tied up with the season on the line for their first collegiate snap? Oh, hell yes! If you go all in on one QB, with no contingency for an injury to the #1 QB, or the fact that maybe your designated #1 QB goes into the tank from a performance perspective, you have made a horrible coaching decision. You'd better have your #2, and truly your #3, taking similar snaps as your # 1 to get a baseline safety net. NEVER put your eggs in one basket. That's why you keep 3 or 4 QBs, especially 3 star (designated) candidates. If you spend all of your practice snaps with the #1, that means you do not really trust that #1. What does everyone think of ISU? ESPN gives them a 63% chance of winning. With both teams having new coaches and both teams blowing out inferior competition in Game 1 there doesn't seem much to base predictions on. ISU has established a bit of a lead in the series history, so we need to start to chip away at that.
I've never been to the Hulman Center but every time we play there I think about going but never can make it. Same story this year. Anyone going?

So you would have put Blazek or Kelly in the game last night in the fourth quarter tied up with the season on the line for their first collegiate snap? Honestly I would’ve tried it earlier in the game and earlier in the season, yes. Or when we were up 31 on Murray State. Murray State definitely.
