Dammit Rob...see what you started? You're in deep sh*t now buddy. Hey it was going so good but everyone knew it would turn. It always does at some point.

You guys are right we lose a starter and the first guy off the bench, but everything is just fine. Heck for Tyler it was only his third drug related issue, hell everyone has a drug problem. No big deal. In fact I know, lets bring in a guy who was kicked off another team, because I am positive there aren't issues there at all. Exactly how bad would it have to get before you guys admit we are digging deep into the knucklehead pile for recruits.

Meanwhile butler pulls in a transfer from Duke. I’m beginning to think that Barry Collier is underpaid.....🤔 .....and I don’t even know his salary!

They are just on a level way above us now. And we were once ahead of them...

Depending on how you present or spin them they can take on a whole new meaning. JT was suspended his freshman year for academic issues. Not sure about the other two...rumor but no confirmation ever. Do you know what they were for? The truth is we have a new guy who may have done something serious enough to get kicked out of school and we have another guy who has shot himself in the foot several times and had paid the price, but the staff and the University have let him stay so I'm guessing the offenses were not too egregious. That's it. Nothing more to see regardless of how you want to spin it. That is reality.

Also I suppose since no one else has hit on it yet I will. Why do so many of our players look ten pounds overweight, flabby, and appear gassed before the first scheduled timeout ? Munchies bro. wasnt Whit all about a lower body fat percentage, in his first year he dropped Frankos and others big time

Also in Whitford's defense, he seems to have a pretty high graduation rate. In fact, other than those who have transferred out, has anyone failed to graduate under his watch? We all want wins, but this is still a college and life is about getting your degree so one can have a better chance of making a decent living after college. None of our guys are going to make a living off playing professional basketball. I know a few go off to Europe and Asia for professional leagues, but I doubt if they make much doing that. More of an experience of a lifetime thing.

Something that bothers me is that we have 5 scholarship players currently not playing. 1. Jontrell Walker - indefinitely suspended 2. Zach Gunn - injured 3. Brachen Hazen - Arkansas transfer 4. K.J. Walton - Missouri transfer 5. Blake Huggins - freshman redshirt Almost half of our scholarship players are currently not playing! I think it's worth noting that Hazen, I believe, transferred without a scholarship for this year. If he is on one now, and I suspect he is, it's because one became available with the passing of Hollywood. As far as injuries, it happens.

Which makes them bad recruits and really bad teammates.

So, if Whit keeps winning 20 games a year and the team continues to play in meaningless end-of-season, pay-to-play tournaments, he's likely not getting fired. That is probably the true reality, no matter what aforementioned deficiencies are or are not addressed.
But, what would convince you guys that Whit and the team have progressed to the point where it might actually be worth making an effort to keep the coach happy?
I've got a short list of three things (could get longer as I think of more stuff):
1. The Cards win the MAC tournament. I don't care if they go 9-9 regular season; they win the tourney, that's something I haven't seen or thought possible with this staff/team, and I'll take it as a sign of progress.
2. The Cards go on a significant MAC regular-season run. I'm talking about finishing this season something like 12-2 to end up 14-4 in MAC play. They do that, even if they don't win the tournament, they're going to have to play some pretty good, pretty consistent ball and beat some teams in tough places. Again, something I'm not sure we've seen.
3. Whit goes out with one of his two remaining scholarships and brings in the dominant big we've wanted. I'm not talking about a decent contributor off the bench. I'm talking a player who undeniably jumps to the top of the heap. And no, the possibility of Hazen starting next year does not count.

Ok, I'm with Reality Check, we have had very few problems with grades or players needing to be disciplined under Whit...if you want to argue about a kick ass big man, I'll give it to you, but to say the staff has not recruited pretty good kids that do not make grades is dead wrong.
Tyler was suspended appropriately for his behavior...and by the way he's a pretty good kid overall as Reality stated. He would not kicked out of virtually any University for his actions to the best of my knowledge.
Should he grow up and act like a student athlete...heck yes, but to say the penalties were to light is again dead wrong as only a few on the board are virtually all of the time.
