Basketball X's and O's are not my thing so I could be wrong so correct me if I am wrong
First off do we even have X's and O's if so sometimes I do not see them
Secondly it seems as if teams have decided the way to beat us is to clog the middle and take away any drives and really just make it a mess down there.
We are not a good a three point shooting team.. Tayler can hit a few but he is best when he is getting to the rim.
Moses NO
Teague NO
Mallers can hit some but is not doing it well right now
Walton NO
Bench GUnn can hit them but is streaky and cant play D
Nehls can hit them but he is passive and not shooting
Hazen injured and not a large enough sample
Ish was shooting better
Thompson cant be relied upon to do it
Manbun NO
So how do we Win games not be able to shoot the basketball?
Do we opt for lucky games when everyone is hitting
Do we play Gunn More and give up the D
Do we Green Light Nehls.
Hero Ball with Persons
Or is there an adjustment Whit can make

Whit can adjust his salary by adding a few more 000 for his contract extension without an X. That's the only X and 0 for now😁

Just pass it around the perimeter until someone jacks up a shot. If a bunch of em go in We have a good chance of winning. If they don’t, we don’t. Very effective in reducing those pesky assists. ;-).

Once you get into conference season, teams spend a lot of timing scouting. You don't see as much game/team prep in the preseason. MAC teams know our strengths and weaknesses and exploit them. The game today is played with very few set plays. You always have a few (set plays) but most of todays game is predicated on taking advantage of mismatches. We are a high low dribble drive and kick team who plays best in transition. We struggle in the grind it out possession games which you see a lot of in conference season. That is why I continue to harp on finding an inside post that can score when teams are taking away the drive and kick. Moses is so inconsistent and he goes away against more physical players. Listen to Dakich and his bitch fest on Miller down in IU. He is saying the absolute same thing as I am as IU's Big Ten opponents are taking away the dribble drive and too many guys are standing around not getting a shot. Sound familiar? Miller AND Whitford are the same. Miller is getting ripped in Bloomington and Whitford is only getting ripped by us old timers on this Board.

This was especially evident in our last two games: 1) Missing the defensive rebounds which allow the opponent to get offensive boards and extra shots. 2) Missing our free throws.

Personnel doesn’t match style. As reevo so often points out.

FT has to be a weapon if we are going inside.
No great XO answer to poor shooting. If we get some bench we might up the pace to get better chances.
No question we can improve TO picture but not by forcing it inside on drive.
BG game suggests we are not as far away as it might seen.

Personnel doesn’t match style. As reevo so often points out. Calhoun not quite right. We are supposed to be using screens, P&R and P&P, not just passing around. Good ball movement is pass with purpose. Find the shooters. Screen to help him. reevo and I want better athletes to pressure and run if we play small ball, not necessarily a lot of great shooters but at least one big guy has to shoot. Great news if guards and wings all shoot, but not necessarily needed if we find the shooters we have, and can score on break. Nobody shoots, no offense works...

You're saying "the game today is played with very few set plays". I don't know what we actually DO each time down the court, but I can tell you that on every offensive possession a set play is called by Whit. I would hope that the coach is trying to take advantages of the mismatches that are then on the floor, but they sometimes seem like it doesn't make any difference.

Whatever our roster deficiencies might be with this year's team, it's really more about coaching.
The old quip used to be that Bobby Knight could take his team and beat yours. Then he could turn around and take your team and beat his.
I'm beginning to feel that way about Whitford ... in reverse.
I think if Buffalo's Oats had started out the year with our roster and Whitford had started out with the Buffalo roster, the winning coach in 10 days would still be the same. And there ain't no way Buffalo would be ranked right now.
Or, I should say there ain't no way the team that currently is the Buffalo roster would be ranked right now.

He quoted part of the post. And this team is not playing small ball.
Which is where we go if Moses in off the court, but we probably need depth and athleticism, and Hazen...

I do agree Bob Knight would do better with either team though...
