Yes, no doubt that game negates decades of trending in the NFL and the colts will run through the playoffs while averaging about 100 yards passing.

Sherm, you may want to look at highlights of Colts-Pats.
Whether you can do it in playoffs, that game counts as a big win running the ball.

And now he's on the COVID list and out vs Raiders.

And now he's on the COVID list and out vs Raiders. Maybe. New CDC guidelines are down to 5 days isolation for asymptomatic people who tested positive. The NFL and NFLPA are in the midst of adjusting to the new guidelines, so he may be clear by Sunday.

Everyone currently on the Covid list could be cleared by Saturday if they pass whatever these new guidelines are. Anyone who enters the protocol tomorrow or later will miss Sunday's game.

At this point just stop testing and treat it like any other illness. If you're relying on "player honesty" then why bother? No player ever is gonna go "hey coach, go ahead and sit me today"

If he comes back and leads the Colts to the playoffs the trade is winner. If they limp in with a win against the Jags, he better win a game in playoff football.
Interesting stat in the link that he is #6 in QBR rating with his game management role. Obviously not really an elite QB since a couple of guys below him can dominate a game and he hasn't shown that.

Really puzzling that the Colts are going to fail to make the playoffs with maybe the league's best running game. Seems like most announcers and 100% of internet tough guys know that running the ball is the most crucial thing.

You can win some games with good defense and a strong running game, but you can't win in the playoffs without a strong passing game.

Look for the Colts to double down on the mediocrity in the coming years by devoting huge chunks of cap space to low-value, running-oriented positions, i.e. interior linemen. To not do so would be to admit a mistake in roster building, which is the one thing, above all, that GMs hate, hate, hate to ever do.
Putting your draft/trade/salary resources into low-impact positions is a good way to rack up a bunch of pro bowlers, but not such a good way to have post season success...or participation even.

I’d move Nelson’s ass over to LT and tell him we’ll pay you to protect the QB. and then get a QB.

If Nelson could play left tackle, he already would be. There is no way the Colts would allow the player they used the 6th overall pick on to be continually humiliated in open space by edge rushers. Nelson's shortcomings will be disguised, denied and protected by keeping him in the safer and easier guard position. Further, they will pay him some idiotic amount of cap space to keep up the fiction that the 6h pick was a good idea. THAT is the priority where Nelson is concerned. Some amount that no left guard has ever, or will ever, be worth.

Some amount that no left guard has ever, or will ever, be worth. On top of that, the backups played better than Nelson, Kelly, Smith and Glowinski when they missed games prior to the last two losses to end the season. The overpaid starters got their asses absolutely kicked by the Jags. Jacksonville punched Indy in the mouth from jump and the Colts wilted on in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Zero toughness. And Wentz is a mental train wreck on the field.
