Lost a first round pick on the gamble. Got out from under his money and got something back.
They'll roll the dice again this year.

I can't believe what Washington gave up for Wentz. A third rounder this year, a third next year that becomes a second rounder if Wentz plays 70% of their snaps, swapping the second round picks this year, and Washington taking on Wentz's entire salary.
The Colts got a gift. Looks like they might make a push into the first round to pick up a QB. I don't think they'll be able to move up enough for Pickett, Corrall, or Willis, but I think they might be able to get Howell near the end of the first. If not, Ridder might still be around in the second.

None of those names is anything but a guy with potential. Would be a rough first year unless they also sign a vet QB too.
OTOH it would be bargain if the gamble pays off, to have a success, and on a rookie contract. Still, more likely that draft strategy ends up either another lost draft pick or maybe a middling quality starter after a year.
Maybe not so bad a gamble. Any of those options is better than paying Wentz 28 mil, a guy who it seems was not a team player and was just not dependable or predictable.
Another Pretty good chance is they go for best FA they can get for 28 mil, or make a trade for better short run guy. Irsay wants to win now.

...a guy who it seems was not a team player... Explain. A lot written by Colts reporters on locker room issues.
On the field, he needed a lot of coaching to stay on track in games, and your QB is supposed to be the guy on the field that focuses everybody else. If your role is supposed to be leader either by personality or by example and sacrificing for the team, you are a follower and are a poor fit on the team.
Maybe it was just personality, but he did not connect according to these reporters. Orlovsky said he was a dud in the locker room, and Doyel hated him and said it all season. If that's true very hard for him to be the leader the team needs at QB.
If you are not a leader with personality, you can inspire by example and giving it all for the team. But reports are that he did not take personal responsibility for problems. In my mind the vaccine decision is mixed in there. It isolated him from the team physically, and how could he call out others who weren't playing well and were not showing up at key times when he's not willing to take a very small risk to insure he would not miss games, and was not owning up to his mistakes and taking responsibility.
The vaccine thing also irked Irsay and management but NFL policy allowed it.

How you can be the leader of the team and not be willing to take personal responsibility and show you are putting it all on the line? Well, at least willing to take some risk for the team. The lack of charisma can be overcome leading by example and giving it all up.

Too bad you are a lazy state college professor and not a professional who actually has to earn his keep from both creating and meeting results. Enjoy your typical four day weekend.

VERY low risk to you and important protection to the community and others and I don't value choice so much.

No tougher result to get than to educate.
Besides, what the hell does that have to do with leadership, or vaccines?

The leader of the defense was Darius Leonard and he wasn't vaxxed. Does everyone on the team hate him? Quentin Nelson also?
