The leader of the defense was Darius Leonard and he wasn't vaxxed. Does everyone on the team hate him? Quentin Nelson also? QB has to be a leader. I doubt anybody hates Wentz for his decision. But when they start out not liking him, and he needs a lot to overcome that in a role that has leadership as a core responsibility. The other 2 didn't start out as duds in the locker room, had earned respect by their play, and took responsibility when things went wrong. They could call out others, they could inspire by word and action, there was no question of lack of caring about team mates. The vaccine issue was maybe a 3rd strike against Wentz, at the least a foul ball. If nothing else it was a chance to allow him to be less isolated and help him over one a problem he had.

Well, if Doyel hated him, Wentz must have been a real self-centered asshole.
Orlovsky is a talking head who just makes up whatever he wants. He never leaves the studio.
Your track record of unreliable sources stands unblemished.

All of the sudden Doyel is a source of credibility and a worthy opinion?

Sources could be wrong, sure. I don't trust Doyel, either, but this was not his usual weekly negative rant.
Assume the sources were bad, where is the evidence he was guy anyone trusted? No tears from his former team when he left, no team mates really in his corner. Sources there just as sour as here.
He had a great chance with a HC big time in his corner, but even his biggest supporter finally admits he was way too high maintenance. The team fell apart.
Worth a gamble, but ultimately a bet that lost. Washington is another chance, the guy has talent, hope he learned something. He can't afford any distractions and the press is just as likely to put him under the microscope.

So despite all the other shit being side-tracked into this conversation, let's have a show of hands: Who thinks Wentz was a good leader?

Brilliant response, sweep. I am now almost convinced Wentz will easily turn around his faltering career.

From what I saw on Hard Knocks, and from other sources I know, Wentz was well-liked by the team. He's a very down-to-earth guy. As a leader, you're judged by your results. I just think he tried to do too much to extend a play. Held onto the ball too long, tried to make a throw while being tackled. Nobody questioned his effort.

I agree with the personal effort and he apparently wasn't abrasive.
I am not so sure about that creating a likeability that makes others want to follow him. Not in the areas of taking responsibility and maybe in caring about others, not just #1.
In the absence of real magnetism which makes others want to follow, leadership requires decisiveness and taking charge when neeeded, which he seemed to lack, and the ability to inspire confidence in others, which certainly involves getting results. He did not seem to have either trait.

Don't know about his effect on his teammates, but he apparently really pissed off Irsay who, of course, is the key person.
I do remember that I had a bad feeling about his demeanor and body language on the sideline during the J'ville game.

I really want to know what the record is for consecutive years with a different starting QB opening day
It's been:
Brisket Luck Brisket Rivers Wentz [Insert next stop-gap here]
If it is Jimmy G, I gotta believe the train stops there for at least a few years, if it's anyone else (mariota, winston, brisket, dalton, etc) then I think we have a different starter in 2023 as well.
And at this point Luck can no longer be blamed for the lack of stability at that position. This falls squarely on the organization.

My wife would be totally ok with Jimmy G. She thinks he's... uh... "dreamy."

I propose the Colts use ALL their draft picks on QB's this year to maximize the chance of a Tom Brady, Russel Wilson type miracle.
