One thing we could also do is schedule like the Power Four Conferences. You schedule four games against lesser teams and then you get into the MAC schedule. Let’s bring in teams like Indiana State, Illinois State, Eastern Kentucky, Western Illinois . play them all at home. They will all be home games. In most cases we win all four. Ball State fans won’t care who we play, only that we play. Than you get into the MAC schedule. You have a winning record. Life is good. If it doesn’t get you to one of the shit bowl games, who cares. They cost money, they don’t make you money. Stop letting ESPN run our football program. To do that costs us 300k per game and only 1 win towards bowl eligibilty never going to happen For a chance to go to a losers bowl, where we have won “1” game. These games are poorly attended and cost the University major bucks! Should also add that we have rarely won one of these Power Five games, so we start with one or two losses to start the season.

Agreed with ya but we cant pay 300k to multiple fcs schools in season

Business schools could use Mac football as a Kobayashi Maru type case study

The sad state of affairs in Ball State and mid-major football isn’t a recent phenomena.

This is business, and Neu is very well paid. Everyone knows you don't mix business with family/friends. It's past time for Neu to make some bold moves, irregardless of his loyalties to the Lynch family. If he can't/won't do it on his own accord, these changes should be forced from above. I like Neu, but... my overall loyalties are to BSU.

Based on how he acted in the presser, Neu is very aware either he has to make changes, or he's getting fired. The new AD is pissed about Saturday's embarrassing loss. I'm sure there's been an ultimatum given to Neu, but they may not be able to do anything until the end of the season.

(He also doesn’t publicly throw people under the bus so we won’t know of any changes til Saturday)

So the highest paid university employee might be required to elevate his below average managerial performance to an "average" level?
Why, that's blasphemous!

I'm sure there's been an ultimatum given to Neu, but they may not be able to do anything until the end of the season. I agree, Lurkin. He looked like a guy who believes he has lost his team ('they don't have confidence in what we're doing'). It hasn't helped that he has lost three important pieces on offense to injury (Hunt, Pemberton and Robinson) and a huge loss on defense in Coll. And we don't talk much on this board about how NIL and the transfer portal has completely changed the job of being a college football coach. But the yo-yo situation at QB, the relentless coach-speak, and his stubbornness and loyalty to underachieving coaches is all on him. He doesn't seem to understand that in college football loyalty is conditional and that condition is you have to win. He has not won here and his record says as much but I do think we can say that we have competed. What felt different this past Saturday is that we didn't even look like we were trying to do that. He said all the right things in the press conference about it starting with him but actions speak louder than words. If I'm the AD I would immediately recognize that this guy, while a nice enough man, is not going to change. Apparently there was a players' only meeting this week because some of the veterans were pissed that guys were not bothered enough by the loss (laughing and joking on the sidelines and in the locker room after, etc.) or were more concerned about their own numbers. At this point, I'm just hoping that the game is not over by halftime...
