I believe my Freshman year each quarter’s tuition was $300! Imagine that My tuition was $115/quarter and the bunny hutches were $115/month. |

Some more math to put perspective on how ridiculous MAC football finances are: BSU claims about 10,000 attendance per home game. My understanding is that they inflate this pretty dramatically because they are understandably ashamed of the true attendance, but let's just take this at face value for the sake of having a number. So, for five home games we have 50,000. If we divide the football money loss by attendance, we get $200 that must be covered for each person attending a game. This is an astounding figure that really demonstrates how much is paid for how little return.
So, let's say you are a BSU football fan who supports the continuation of this reprehensible farce. Let's say you have four season tickets. That means BSU students are subsidizing your pastime to the tune of 4 tickets times 5 games times $200. You owe BSU students collectively $4000. Per season. Oh, and by the way, they had to borrow money to do this for you. People here get impatient with me bringing this up, but honestly you deserve to have the ridiculousness and sleaziness of this scam shoved in your face as often as possible.

Those student fees are also not just funding football they are funding all sports MAC schools make it difficult to know the exact amount of money lost on football for obvious reasons, but it does appear the football-only loss is well over $10 million per school per season now. |
