I don't like any of them. None of these schools are going to bring more eyeballs or more money. Nobody was saying "eh, I don't care about BSU vs. Kent State on a Tuesday night, but BSU vs. UMass would be worth watching." I'm open to having my mind changed, but I see this as just one more team competing for the thing we can never win already. We're not a power conference and don't need to act like one.

If you watch Lewis, it appears that almost every shot outside causes him to have a cow. I get the impression that Jones especially looks afraid to shoot---despite being one of our better defensive players. Jihad the last three games has looked snakebit with little to no confidence in his shots. The other thing that drives me to drink is our inbound sets...nobody moves enough. Just not impressed with the whole program. We have to win out and I don't see that happening. Watching Lewis is way more entertaining than the games. He literally bitches non-stop the entire game. He’s the reason I go. |

Our las field goal was a Davion Bailey made Layup with 6:03 to play. More shocking is before that you have to go back to the 12:11 mark for a Jalin Anderson made Layup. We made two field goals in the last 12:11 of the game. 17 points total. Against the#8 defense in the MAC. Horrendous. |

Ok cool. That definitely helps. Sorry that was cruel. Maybe this will help. We went 5-25 from three point range and Jones, Jihad, Pearson and Anderson combined to go 3-19. How can we be so bad collectively at home? It’s just mind blowing. How about this? I’m pretty sure we didnt score a field goal in the last 6 minutes. |

As of today, all of the schools our players left for this season have more wins than we do. This stings a little bit. Indiana Nebraska UCF Morehead St. Niagara LeMoyne Well that may be, but it’s more about the quality of the wins that matters most. |

I say once again - the BSU administration has a low-expectation, excuse-based culture around men's basketball and that's the main reason we are into our third decade of consistent failure. You've said that before? I think I would remember such a bold, novel idea. |

BTW, did anybody watch the TX St presser? He totally ripped Middleton a new one for his defense the last few games. I mean kinda over the top - said "atrocious" was the kindest word he could think of to use. He also ripped the MAC/ Sunbelt challenge, saying it was a scheduling and financial distraction for budget strapped MAC teams. I don't disagree with him, but to a point Sherm has made many times, it feels like he's been ramping up the excuses publicly over the last few weeks - not a good sign. I didn't watch it so I don't know exactly what he said, but like I just argued to Sherm a second ago, I'd differentiate general bitching with excuse making. Did he say "nobody can be expected to win under these circumstances?" or did he say "why, when I'm fighting like hell to get into the MAC tourney, do I have to stop and play a random Sun Belt opponent in Texas?" I'd say one is excuse making and the other is being pissed off. Sherman thinks people here bitching about how we miss Whitford's players is excuse making, when (at least for me) it's being pissed off. Either way, I agree with you that it's not a good sign in that he shouldn't be saying it - whether it's excuse making or being pissed off, he's got to keep it internal. |

And I don't think it should shock anybody that the players Lewis inherited, however talented they might have been compared to what he's brought in so far, do not have that mental make-up. Hell, they came to BSU to play for James Whitford. You couldn't have two coaches who are more polar opposites emotionally. Well it was often claimed around here last year that once Lewis brought in "his players" who would be "tough" that the results would improve. Instead it seems to me that Lewis's players are not "tougher" than Whitford's, they are just "worse". And certainly, the results have not improved. And the excuse this year isn't the weakness of Whitford's players...it's the lack of them. It seems to me that you're so intent on criticizing excuse making that you treat things that aren't excuses like they're excuses. We suck this year because Whitford's players were better than our current roster. That's not an excuse, it's a fact. I'm only aware of one person here who will consistently try to lessen the blame for failure by pointing to anything and everything, and if you haven't blocked that guy yet then you deserve the nonsense you get from him. |
