A little late to this party but I say they get to 20. What is Ball State at home, 12-1 and they have 3 home games left? Toledo will not be a gimme but if they win those 3, I think they'll beat NIU or Central on the road. Akron is not great but it's at the Jar so my confidence is low. Akron has no bigs that I remember and wasn't that the game we let someone drop 40 something on us? If Teague and Moses both show up and we play any perimeter defense I think we can take them again.. There is a game or two where we will lay a big turd though. We always seem too watch it be Northern. Im sticking with 19

Niu seems a good candidate for a turd game. Given how up and down we are I think there are two turd games left. 18 wins.

I like the offense better now though, players are being forced to play where the should. Still think Mallers is kinda out of position but he his making it work for the most part. If Kiapway could somehow give us something that would help a bunch.. Im just done with Gunn for this year.

Whoever said the General is not nearly as negative as Negative Nancy I would quite agree.
As our last 4 Coaches go, I’d rate their performance as follows from best to worst:
1. Buckley
2. Whitford
3. Taylor
35. Thompson
As for excuses, other than Thompson I’d call it a dead heat.

I'd rate Buckley maybe the worst. It's easy to continue mediocrity once it's established but not so easy to CREATE lasting mediocrity when you are gifted two NBA players and a defending champion team.
The excuse you here for Buckley is that he had to keep his head down and mouth shut as Andi Seger emasculated the program. Personally, I always feel more contempt for Buckley, rather than less, when I hear that excuse.

As I say above, I consider Buckley as the "Father of BSU basketball failure". As such, he would get a spot on the Mt. Rushmore of BSU basketball failure. Who joins him? Thompson obviously. What he accomplished in one year is something only a true piece of disgusting filth could do. Taylor and Whitford have only continued the tradition....not quite Rushmore material. You have to put some of the AD's and/or presidents in there. To tell you the truth, I am now hazy on who made which terrible hire and who extended which coaching failure. Gora is a strong candidate, and if you put her on the mountain, you would have to make a smaller statue of Collins on the rear of the mountain, licking Gora's backside. Like Buckely, Seger gets credit for creating failure out of success, so maybe she is number four.

Akron has gotten back an injured freshman big man Kostelac how much he adds is debatable. He is 6'11" 250 last game he played but did not score. They at least can stick someone beside Moses. The Grad student from Oregon St Duvivier has not been adding alot lately seems their freshman and soph Utomi are the scorers.Akron will be a tough game remember they are 11-2 in Akron & 0-11 away from home.

Did not realize they were 11-2 at home.. This puts a wrench in my thoughts of us beating them.. It may sway my opinion too 18 wins

Obviously we see it differently which is fine but beating top 10 teams Kansas and UCLA and losing to probably the best team in the country by 7 or 8 when your Center is out a lot of the game with an attack is hardly failure in my book. I guess u believe Taylor or Thompson accomplished more ?
While the team should have been NCAA bound they went very deep in the NIT I believe beating St Francis and LSU on the road! You call it failure maybe I call it a very good showing!
But it may just be that you are so much tougher and wiser than me

I heard a stat today and it made me think of this thread.. We have been talking about 20 win season for three years now. Did you guys know that on average with todays schedule 100-115 teams per year get to 20 wins. Are we wasting our breath and overvaluing a 20 win season. I believe it used to mean more than it does now.

Now, given that so many teams hit 20 wins these days it’s no longer a magical number. Hit 25 and you’re talking. So far we don’t have a lot to show for our 20 wins. Just a couple CITBI appearances. Gotta start doing more with it, obviously.
