I would keep a tournament but have the high seed get to play at home. I think it would improve attendance & give the best team a better chance of getting in the tourney.

A logistical nightmare with a short schedule. Yep, this is a made for TV event and that idea is less attractive. To make it work, you'd have to at a minimum start the tournament a few days earlier and that crowds regular season even more to match the TV schedule for the tournament. TV wants the show they have. Even modest economies of scale in producing these tournament games in one location, right in the few days when interest is highest before the NCAA pairings, makes the contract more profitable and attractive for TV. They want their own announcers, production crews, and to coordinate with other broadcasts. That is not to mention the difficulty for the teams and fans, and the host schools to promote games without at least a few days lead time.

It was done 30 years ago & yes it did start on Monday/Tuesday & if someone else can confirm I think was limited to 8 teams. TV to me at least what national coverage the MAC gets is limited to the championship anyway. There are some conferences playing their tournaments this way now Patriot League I know does. Trust me the attendance at 4 sites or 2 for the semi finals would equal what they get in Cleveland. Yes your going to get the higher seed with the added edge of being at home but that is why the league is more likely to send the best team. The initial round games are probably going to attract no more at the home sites than a regular game would. The current situation as has been shown in the winners favors Kent & Akron being they have the majority of the fans do to closeness. This year I anticipate a drop in attendance unless those 2 teams shock us & get to at least the Cleveland games. How many fans will BSU have go to Cleveland? I would be stunned to learn if it is a 1,000 this year. Assuming we get 3rd seed I think you would attract more than that to 1st round game in Muncie. I think the current set up works best for 3 schools Ohio, Akron & Kent. The other 9 are at a disadvantage.

I think we lose at niu but 20 wins suddenly in sight. 19 in the score book. The pessimists are out of the game. 21 might be as high even as 50%. Those who were only mildly optimistic, predicting 19, like me, look like they should have been drinking what the kid was drinking. 20 wins is now odds on.

Ok the kid is starting to crow a bit..looks like 20 tonight and likely 1 out of 2 on the road! If we win out my far out prediction of 23 is a bare miss!
And General, I believe we have a big bet coming up?!

Tell ya what. Emu is playing really well right now. Another team I wouldn’t want to face in the first round. They pummeled NIu today. At this point I’m not sure who I’d want us to face in the tourney. We’re running out of gas a bit so we really need to hang onto that bye.
