Ball States next opponent from the Southland Conference is 2-3 before playing Tulane and us.
Important to note that NO beat Bradley by 13...we better bring game!!

Bradley is 1-7 and got hammered by Delaware tonite. They are horrible and we never ever should have lost to them.

True....Bradley also lost by 13 on the road to a good Ole Miss team!
We agree we should have won that one.

When we start showing up for games and expecting the best of our team, like the Bradley fans, we'll win a few more games we should not win, too. Hey, I am stunned they are so bad, after all, they fired their coach, hired an experienced winning coach shelling out big bucks for salary and buy out, brought in all new players. I thought that was a sure way to turn things around right away?

NO would have to play their best to beat us. We might get away with a bad game. We played less than our best, and Bradley had their best game at home when we played them. They played NO on the road, after six games in 13 days, four in seven days when they played. www.pjstar.com/article/20151125/SPORTS/151129578But, Kid, you are right, we should not count our wins too soon. We will have two or three games we definitely should win before conference. But. We will be underdogs at ISU, could easily lose to Pepperdine. We may need to play better than we did against IUPUI in all those games.

Personally, I wonder about the New Orleans team because anyone voluntarily choosing to travel from New Orleans to Muncie in December has to have rocks in their head.

Some wasted time on the net revealed the following information: Opponent's statsRosterfan forum season forecastBest games probably beating Bradley and losing to Tulane, a big home town rival they prepared hard to play, but Tulane not quite as strong as BSU. They are playing 4th of 4 games on the road, counting the game against Tulane in their home town. Travel schedule may mean they don't have a lot of time to prepare. Not a very big team, balanced scoring, deep, use bench and play a lot of people. They have held their own on the boards despite size. Don't shoot very well, but might play us tough on defense and put pressure on us. Gill who is a small quick guard has had some good games when they played well, he might give our guys trouble, and would probably have to be hot and play well against us in an upset. Still we should win this one, we match their depth and I'll be interested to see if we play hard, can contain their small guards. We should be stronger and bigger but can't sit back on our heels and have to handle their pressure.

''We fired once more and they began arunnin', down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.'' I am old enough to remember when that song was playing on the radio!! Another power house opponent that no one cares about and no one will go see. ''The March'' to fifteen goes on. I hope we don't take much pride in beating teams that are rated below Cloverdale High School.

Why care what pride "we" take in beating any opponent? You don't have to. This game will test us in defending a gritty speedy group. Can we defend without a parade to the foul line? They obviously are good at drawing fouls. Shot more than us in less games.
Not about the win. More about development of our guys. I will be happy with a win.

Another power house opponent that no one cares about and no one will go see. ''The March'' to fifteen goes on. I hope we don't take much pride in beating teams that are rated below Cloverdale High School. If you prefer, stay home and don't enjoy the game. I see nothing wrong in showing interest and enthusiasm for game day. That is no vice. And, if you aren't going to enjoy it, I see no great virtue in taking away pleasure of somebody who wants to enjoy the game. Perhaps the pride that is too great is that of the guy that thinks he is above enjoying seeing us play and the pride of the guy insisting on an opponent "up to his standards" or he won't let anyone else enjoy it. I want a team that will play great and as a result beat good teams. But, I'll also take pride in any team when I see they have improved their play and measure success by whether they do so. The test is how close they play to their own potential, not the margin of victory or the opponent's prestige.

Tiward is right in his post above, see also this article: Muncie Star makes good pointBSU players and coach comment on strengths of the opponent. How we respond to an opponents strengths and whether we can improve in areas where we need to is the challenge here. Since we have had trouble stopping quick moves to the basket, and we have emphasized outside shooting a small team can defend us on the perimeter, and possibly get inside on the drive. If they rebound well, and play they hard can challenge us by drawing fouls, getting to the line. New Orleans has done that against a couple of bigger teams, outplaying them with a lot of fouls on both sides. While they are not a great foul shooting team, so far, they look best where they hit a few outside shots (not really a great strength of theirs) and outscore opponents from the line. We need to match them in playing hard, and need some players to improve at the line if this is a game NO comes to play!

If you look at a lot of the major powers, they often play inferior teams at home during the preseason. They also play high level competition. If you look at our preseason, there needed to be teams we should beat (needed to build some feeling of winning again) and teams that we probably should not beat (Utah; Valpo).
Anyway, my point being that the fans of the majors still fill their arenas even though they are playing a weak opponent. They come to see their team play and hopefully easily handle that opponent.
