It’s hard to get very loud at a football game trying to yell chirp chirp. I feel like it’s run it’s course I dont know what they do now, but in my day it started as chirping and turned into yelling as the play got closer. I’d say the difficulty in getting loud is more based on the number of voices. The old geezers are the only ones there and they dont want to be disturbed by loud noises.

I can’t remember talking to anyone who thought “Chirp Chirp” did anything positive for Ball State athletics. Whoever BSU paid a lot of money to come up with those words made out like a bandit. I am a strong believer in tradition and loyalty. I realize that at times change can be good, but when you grow up with Ball State athletics with our teams being known as the “Fighting Cardinals,” I’m not sure what “Chirp Chirp” does for BSU teams except give them an inferior complex if anything. I think it started organically in the student section. I think it started while I was a student (04-07), but I don’t know that. There were some very active students who tried to get things going. I worked hard on the getting half the stadium to yell “ball” and the other half to yell “state.” I remember the first time we got it going during a commercial break and it continued into our offensive series where Joey Lynch immediately threw a pick.

Yeah, their colors are black and gold and use white bases for their unis. Not a stretch. Neither are grey and camo, depending on the occasion. Did I answer his question correctly. Also how many recruits are flocking to either. Believe it or not alt ibis and brand deals are big recruiting tools If we change our logo the Ibis I'm out. That's a stupid looking bird and I'm not afraid to say it.

The rule is in its’ 17th month. I would say it has really taken off. I think there is an LSU women's gymnast getting $1m The LSU gymnast is probably the best representation of what NIL was supposed to be though. I dont think she got $1m in exchange for going to LSU. She’s an actual social media influencer.

My attitude is let’s beat Duquesne and Vermont, then I’ll want Zags and Houston.

I heard Neu would not allow it. Neu told Lewis the day he came to a football workout that he could not have Hunt. I get a coach not wanting his guys risking injuries, but as a Ball State guy I would have hoped Neu would have been open to it.

As we all know our depth is weak. Why not ask Brady Hunt to come out? He was a terrific HS scorer and has size and skill. Sure wouldn't hurt. I heard Neu would not allow it.

Someone pre-season said our biggest weaknesses on offense were QB and OLine. It was obvious we were in deep trouble from that, but it still hurts to see us squander the talent we had on the field this year. Steele, Kozial, Tyler, Jackson, all could have been so much better utilized.

Well I wasnt able to watch the game so I planned to watch tonight, but when I looked up the game on ESPN+ they very inconveniently had the replay right next to a highlight of “Duquesne wins on buzzer beater.” Effing ESPN. I watched the last few possessions. That was a miracle shot for them. We’re snakebit.

Quick check of former MAC West (BSU, CMU, EMU, WMU, NIU, UT) shows a current combined win/loss of 19-27; former MAC East (KSU, OU, UA, UB, Miami, BG) current combined 21-22. Overall win/loss for the conference currently 40-49. Feel free to check my numbers as it's late, even in northern Arizona where I live, that withstanding, MAC will be a one bid conference in the foreseeable future (or forever). I bet that looks a lot worse if you take out nonD1 opponents.

After this game we should win out the rest of the month I’d say. I’m expecting a double digit loss in Pittsburg though.

Sparks, because there's still at least a hope that Lewis knows what he's doing, and that Sparks could be the centerpiece of a MAC championship team with an NCAA berth some time in the next 3 seasons. As of now, Steele, if he stays, is stuck with Neu and Lynch, which means he'll be the best RB in the MAC stuck on a 5-win team for the next two years. If Kelly is the starter and keeps his averages of 23 yards per pass attempt and 10+ yards per rush I think we’ll win more games.
